Charles R. Hinton, 94, of Lafayette, died at Rosewalk Village on Tuesday, February 09, 2010 at 8:15 a.m. Born in West Point, IN on July 15, 1915, he was the son of the late Earnest and Amanda Wise Hinton.
He married Thelma Crow on March 19, 1975 in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2008. Mr. Hinton was a security guard at St. Elizabeth Hospital for over 25 years before retiring. He loved the outdoors, gardening, watching Purdue sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Jean McKinney and Barbara Frost both of Lafayette and Sally Balser (husband, Richard) of Brookston; a son, Charles Hinton (wife, Loann) of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy; a son, Richard; a step-son, Carl; one sister and one brother.
Visitation one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Thursday at Simplicity Funeral Care, 2529 Schuyler Ave., Suite 700. Pastor Anthony Carson officiating.
